I am 60, and a direct descendent of Wylie's who homesteaded the Santa Maria/San Luis Obisbo/Cuyama Valley areas of California. They homesteaded the Cuyama Valey of CA in the late 1880's, owned three ranches at the Ojai/Maricopa bend of the river. I have an extant family tree on my line begining with landing immigrants Scotland/S.Carolina -james wyly1724-1772/m.to martha harris1728-1811 (mecklenburg); 8 offspring - John 1749 (VA), Thomas 1751 (VA), Jane 1753 (NC), Martha 1755 (NC), Child 1772 (NC), Harris M. 1766 (NC), James 1762 (NC), Margaret 1757 (NC); James married #1 wife-Jemina Cleveland 1765 (NC) 2offspring: James R. 1782 (SC),Elizabeth 1784(SC) #2wife - Sarah Shanks (my line)1765 (NC) 6offspring; ? wylie (died@birth)1791 (NC), Samuel 1793(NC), John 1794 (NC), William 1798 (NC), Elias and Ezekiel (twins) 1803 (NC) #3wife-Mary Whittenburger(sp) 1799 7 offspring (no wylie grandchild); (not in my line - Elias Wylie married Sara Montgomery (NC)and had 7 offspring in Texas); (my line) Ezekiel Wylie married Eleanor C. Hallmark 1803 (Ala) having a son Richard C.Wylie 1832-1906 married Henrietta Josephine Guinn 1840-1916 (Ala) and had 5offspring William J.Wylie 1861-1929 (ARK), Richard C.Wylie 1867-1910 (ARK), Thomas B.Wylie 1870 -? (ARK), Robert L.Wylie 1874 - ? (TX), Ida Wylie 1876 - ? (TX): Willam James Wylie of 1861-1929 (above) married Laura New 1866-1957 (TX) 9 offspring; Chester 1884-1955 (TX), Ruth 1886-1952 (TX), Gertrude 1888-1970 (Cuyama Valley)(CA), Etta 1890-1985 (CA), Laura 1892 - 1919 (Cholera) (CA), Herbert J.Wylie 1894-1967 (CA)(lived in Grass Valley), Clarice 1897 -1981 (TX)(family moved back to TX short time CA drought), Ida Margaret Wylie (1901-1968 (Ore), Lawrence E. Wylie 1904-1941 (CA) (my paternal grandfather) (died sulfa poisoning) married #1 wife Dorris Pulliam 1905 -1983 (Indiana) one offspring - my father -Lawrence A.Wylie #2 wife Ethel Merino 1915 - two offspring John 1939 (CA) and David 1941 (CA).
