W.D. Wylie - city of Wylie, TX was named for him

I am looking for info about W. D. Wylie who was a railroad right-of-way agent that the city of Wylie, Texas was named after. I don't have any other info, except one site said he was in the Civil War, and he supposedly had a son named R. A. "Gus" Wylie who was a Street Commissioner in Dallas. The death cert of Gus says that his father was born in Ohio and the mother was Emma Wilmans born in Illinois.
I have conflicting info from a possible daughter's info that says her parents were born in Alabama and Mississippi and that her mother's maiden name was Guinn.
Any help would be appreciated.
Lucy Stewart
