Hi Ken,
You had said i apost that you thought Moses Wray probably died in Bedford co Va and I believe you said the area where the Wrays lived is now in Franklin co Va if I understand it right. Do you have any idea when MOses Wray ded? My ancestor George Wray bought land inBrunswick co Va in 1769 on Quarrel Swamp (Creek) which is in southeast Brunswck co Va near the NC line. I was thinking maybe Moses was George's father or at least George was from that line but I looe at a map and Maggotty Creek is a long ways from southeast Brnswick co Va especially back then. I belive the area of Va that Benjamin,Joseph and Moses Wray lived i was really way out in the middle of nowhere. I mean it was realy ou in the frontier in the late 1740's. I guess they were living in Brunswick co Va until 1746 when Lunenburg co Va was formed but it was really a long ways from where George bought his land in 1769. the only info I have found is that there was a Baker Wray who withnessed a deed for George about 1771 and then Baker was in Bute co NC in 1778 withGeorge and a William Wray. Bute co NC becme Warren co NC in 1779. I found a deed of gift where a Willim Wray geve land to his son Baker Wray in the 17760's in Brunswick co Va. his was probably the WilliamWray who was born about 1700. William Wray was married to n Anne. this was not the William wray who was in Warren co NC in 1779 with Geoge wray. I found where a William Wray died in 1778 in Bedford co Va and there is no will listed but there is an inventory listed in the records. I do not know if he left a will. IF he did it is not listed in any books or records I could fnd. I assume that are of Bedford co Va became Franklinc o Va but I am not even sure it is the same William Wray. Anyway all I know is that a Baker Wray was the son of a William Wray and wife Anne and that there must have been some kind of relationship(maybe father or uncle or cousin etc) between Baker and George since they both went to NC about the same time.George Wray and a Henry Yarbrough bought the land in 1769 in Brunswick co Va together. I do not know why they bought the land together or who Henry Yarbrough was although a Yarbrough researcher said he ws the son of a William Yarbrouh. Have you seen thenameYarbrough related associated with the Wrays in Va? Thanks, Ross
