I am looking to connect with other researchers for this family. He is typically listed as John Pleasants Woodson, son of Tucker Woodson/Mary Netherland, however, I am not sure this is the same John. I have a copy of the "Douglas Register" and it clearly lists the son of Tucker and Mary as being born 21 May 1766. There is NOT a John Woodson, born to any parents, listed with the birth date of Oct 12, 1770. I think that the birth year of 1770 is correct, as the census for this John and Elizabeth support 1770 as his birth year. There is no doubt that this John is related to the family, had a close relationship with Henry Macon Woodson, of Knox County, Kentucky, who has been proven as a son to Tucker and Mary, and this John and Elizabeth. Henry was born in 1772. There is some proof that the families traveled back and forth between Claiborne County, Tennessee, where John lived and Knox County, Kentucky, where Henry lived. Several of Henry's younger children married in Claiborne County. In the last census John and Elizabeth appear in, there is a Brannum Woodson, aged 17, born in Kentucky, in the household. I have been told that he was their grandson, doted on by Elizabeth. I have been unable to locate him in later census and suspect that Brannum may have been his middle name. My father, who is now deceased, always said we were related to Shadrack Woodson in some way. He kept telling me, before his death, I needed to see what I could find about Shadrack Woodson, as he recalled Shadrack Woodson being mentioned when he was a child as being a relative, but could not recall how related, just remembered the unusal name of Shadrack Woodson. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. I descend from William M. Woodson and also would like some insight as to what the M. stands for. I have the original deeds where he first purchased land in Campbell County, Tennessee in 1827 and later in 1844. Notify Administrator about this message?
