Woodson Family Genealogy Forum

Hi, Stephen,
I've been doing some research this week into William Wirt Woodson's parentage. His father, Blake Baker Woodson was married to Stonewall Jackson's mother, Julia Beckwith Neale Jackson. Blake was previously married to Sarah Taylor and he had eight children. Sarah died. He then married Julia Beckwith Neale Jackson. He did not like her children so she had to have family members raise them. I have not researched into any of the children of Blake Baker Woodson. However, I am assuming that Julia raised them for the few years she was alive while being married to Blake, and not her own, including Stonewall. Therefore, Wirt Woodson was raised with his half-siblings. When Julia died, she was buried in an unmarked grave in Westlake Cemetary, in Ansted, WV. I found a record this week of a BB Woodson having married Elizabeth Foster on Dec 27, 1832 in Fayette County. Blake Baker Woodson went by BB Woodson. Julia died Dec 3, 1831. I lost track of the family until I found William Wirt Woodson living in New Harmony, Indiana. His occupation was listed as farmer. New Harmony, Indiana was founded by German Lutheran separatists in 1814. By 1825 they had abandoned the town and moved back to Pennsylvania. The years 1827-1860 were known as post-communal years. These were the years that Wirt lived there. He was married to Virginia Leneve, and they had five children, Thomas, William, Richard, Henry and Kelly. My reasearch has not gone further than that. Blake Baker Woodson would have been an ancestral second cousin to me.
