194 THE WOODSONS AND THEIR CONNECTIONS IV 820 Daughter,7 married William Farmer. V 821 Daughter,7 married Mr. Terry. VI 822 Daughter,7 married Mr. Walker. Issue of 41 2 CAPTAIN CHARLES WOODSON6 (i)Drury,5 William,4 Benjamin,3 Robert John') and 14 Judith Leake: * 823 Tarleton,7 born August 6, 1781, at his father's home, "Rosebank," in northwestern part of Cumberland county, Virginia. He was January 14, 1804, to Elizabeth Price Richardson, a sister to his bro William's wife, Mary Richardson. He owned a large farm in Cumberland land county. His home was called "Traveler's Rest." It was there died, December 28, 1857. * 824 William,7 born March 28, 1784, at Rosebank, Cumberland county, Virginia He was given a good education and was married about 1814 to Richardson, who was born November 14, 1796. She was a sister of J R. Richardson who married Ann Nisbet Powell. He had a splendid f in Buckingham, near the line of Cumberland county, which extended into the James River "low grounds." Much of the land was drained by un ground tiling. The buildings, the fences and everything about the place was kept in the most perfect order. Altogether it was, perhaps, one of best kept and most highly cultivated farms in that part of the state. On an eminence overlooking the "low grounds," he built his residence which was called the "Red House." Here he and his excellent wife their entire wedded life, prosperous and happy. He was a man of a high sense of honor and strict business He was kind and humane in his treatment of his slaves, of whom he a quite a number. During the latter years of his life he devoted time to collecting genealogical and historical data of his family ancestors. After his death in 1861, his eldest son 1505 John Prosser Woodson had charge of his personal effects, and loaned his manuscript and all data to - Charles Van Der Veer Woodson of Prince Edward county after whose death all these papers, which had come to be known as "Prosser Woodson Papers," were misplaced or lost. 824 William Woodson' died at the Red House on May 31, 1861. wife survived about eleven years and died in 1872; after which, the House property was sold and divided among the heirs. III * 825 Lucy7 (so named for her paternal grandmother, 140 Lucy [Chris Woodson5), was born 1788 at Rosebank in Cumberland county, and married to William Miller of the same county. She died at her hon Cumberland, on June 30, 1861, aged seventy-three years.
