The WOODS FAMILY BIBLE - WHO HAS IT? The names of Richard and Jenny, as parents, are in it. Benjamin, child, (and maybe others), is listed. The BIBLE found its way to somewhere in Missouri back in the 19th or early 20th century. [My late uncle, Walter Bridges (1891-1984) of Newton County, MO, reportedly had seen the bible at one time and verified the information.] BENJAMIN (aka “Benjamine”) WOODS, my 3rdGreat-Grandfather, was born in 1772, (calculated by subtraction of his stated 78 years in the 1850 US Census). He died 2 Nov 1852 and is buried in Dry Valley Cemetery, (for which he gave the land). Benjamin WOODS married Elizabeth WINTERS on 15 Apr 1795 in Sumner Co., TN. The WOODS family lived for periods of time in Robertson Co., TN, St. Clair Co., IL (circa 1816 - circa1841) and Newton Co., MO (circa 1842 - 1852). Richard WOODS married Jenny (maiden surname unknown) on 13 Aug 1770 in Augusta Co., VA. Richard was born about 1728. Jenny was born about 1749. This was the third marriage for Richard, (two previous spouses deceased). Richard WOODS made and signed his last will and testament on 23 June 1777. Richard named wife Jenny, son Benjamin and son Samuel, in that order, as legatees. Richard made Jenny and Samuel Executors of the will. (Benjamin apparently was a minor.) I have found no record of Jenny beyond the 1778 probate of Richard’s will. QUESTION: Does any reader have possession of, (or know who does so), the subject “family bible”? Can anyone help me to determine whether, (as I believe to be the case), my 3rdGGF Benjamin, born 2 years post-Richard/Jenny marriage, and the Benjamin named in the 1777 will of Richard Woods are one and the same?
