Joseph Woods born1815 in IN according to the 1850 census in Jasper County IL m Phoebe BROWN 25 Oct 1832 in Gibson County IN. she died before 1844 when he remarried Nancy HAMMELTON in Jasper Co, IL
Children:Jane 1832,; Patrick 1838, Asa 1842, Joseph 1844, Reuben ca 1847, John ca 1849.
1850 Census has # 53 Joseph 35, Nancy 28, Jane Woods 18, Patrick Woods 12 (These are the names of his probable parents Patrick & Jenny/Jane HANNA Woods).
Joseph has 3 other Woods men within a few houses in 1850.CENSUS.
#63 Dixon Woods s/o of James & Nancy DICKSON Woods and therefore a cousin; His wife Margaret (WOODS), maiden name is possibly his cousin and daughter of Patrick.
# 61 John Woods s/o Patrick & Jenny Woods, new wife Mearcy-- Mary( RIFFY )(THOMAS) & children (a brother? of Joseph?-
# 64 James 27 & Mary (TAYLOR) Wo od,s both born in IN, ch: Jane 12, Patrick 10, & Johnathon 4, s/o John., gr/s of Patrick.
All these men bought land in Smallwood Twp of Jasper County within the next few years.
Joseph is said to have died by 1860 in Effingham IL, no record yet found. Children appear to be raised in others homes.
Hoping to find information & descendants to match DNA for the rest of Joseph's family.
