Edgar K. Woods Sr., 91, passed away on June 1, 2009, at
the Wellmont Hospice House, Bristol, TN.
He was born in Ashe County, NC, a son to the late James
and Belva Stanley Woods. Mr. Woods was retired from the
Job Corps, where he worked for 15 years and was a member
of Cold Spring Presbyterian Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a
grandson, Sammy Wayne Wheeler; four brothers; and two
sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Frances Woods;
daughters, Anna Mae Smith, Betty Blevins, and Barbara
Guffey; sons, James Woods, Eddie Woods, and Glenn Woods;
brother, Charlie Woods; 14 grandchildren; 28 great-grand-
children; six great-great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6 p.m.
to 7:45 p.m., prior to the service.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2009,
at 8 p.m., in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel, with the
Rev. Roger Carter and the Rev. Robert Prator officiating.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Committal services will be on Thursday, June 4, 2009, at
2 p.m. at Cold Spring Presbyterian Church.
