Bartholomew Woods c. 1790-1818 P.E.I.

I'm looking for any information on my g-g-g-g-grandfather, Bartholomew Woods, born c. 1770-1795 in Ireland. He was a captain in the British Army during a French-English war (the Napoleonic Wars?)and was stationed in Canada. It's believed that he was related to members of a Woods family who represented Milverton Hall and Winter Lodge in Parliament in Dublin in the 18th century. Bartholomew was forbidden to return home to Ireland after doing a favour for a Frenchman and settled in Prince Edward Island, Canada, sometime prior to 1818. He was married to a Matilda Hamilton and had at least two sons, John and Daniel Leo. Daniel Leo was born 1818 in P.E.I. and married Joanna McGinnis and moved to Pugwash, Nova Scotia.

I have been unable to find any record of Bartholomew such as death record, cemetery inscription, marriage record, etc. I don't know which regiment he served in, where in Ireland he was born, when he arrived in P.E.I. or whether he married in Ireland or met Matilda after settling in P.E.I. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lana
