GEORGE W. WOOD-1838-KILLOUGH MASSACRE
Posted by: Linda Bollinger Date: October 09, 1999 at 14:34:52

Who were the parents of George W. Wood, teacher & merchant, who married Jane Killough, daughter of Isaac Killough Sr.? George had a brother named Eli Wood. In 1837, George & Jane Wood migrated from Talladega Co, AL, to TX with the extended Killough family. In 1838, this family was massacred by renegade Indians near old Larissa, TX. George was killed and his wife and 5 children were captured and never heard from again. According to legend, one of the Wood boys became a chief among the plains Indians. What were the names of the 5 Wood children? Thanks for you help.
