The Wood-Mallory Bible was up for sale on eBay 5 years ago by book-saver. It showed up again for sale last month by an eBay service, "sellingitmadesimpleauctions." The item number is 110428097995. Now eBay is blocking the IDs of winning bidders, so I can't see who bought the Bible to contact them. I'm hoping that the purchaser (or someone who knows the purchaser) will see this message and contact me. I've tried to contact the seller by fax and email with no response yet. The description of the Bible this time is: "This is an amazing 1870 Family Bible for the Wood and Mallory families. This bible was published by The National Publishing Company in 1870. The bible belonged to Methodist Episcopal Reverend Alonzo Wood and his wife Angeline Mallory. It contains 212 illustrations and maps, including some illustrations by Gustave Dore. This bible contains old and new testaments, together with the Apocrypha, Concordance, and Palms in Meter. The Wood family was originally from Groton, Tompkins County, New York and the Mallory family hailed from Corland, New York. In addition to the beautiful bible you will find personal hadwritten letters, 1874 newspaper articles and beautiful tintype photographs which are labled with names. The family records pages contain 2 marriage entries, 3 death entries and birth information. "Also included is a book titled 'Yorkshire to Westchester A Chronicle of the Wood Family" printed in 1948 by The Tuttle Publishing Co., Inc. This book contains the research of Herbert Barber Howe of persons and incidents of the Wood Family for twelve generations. "The bible is in good condition with thick tooled leather boards and spine with gilt decorations and lettering. Covers and spine are worn and the hinges and spine are cracked. "This is a wonderful piece of history for anyone researching either the Wood or Mallory Families or anyone interested in the history of nineth century." If anyone is interested in finding out more information about the family of Alonzo Wood and Angeline Mallory of Chesaning, Saginaw, Michigan, you can go to the Find A Grave web site and look up George Edward Wood in Wildwood Cemetery, Chesaning, Michigan. I've given the details I know about the family on George Edward's memorial. I'm related somehow to this Wood family, but not sure how. George Edward Wood adopted my great-grandfather, Frank Lyons. His natural mother was Nellie Wood who was related to George Edward Wood. I thought she was his sister, but she's not listed as his sister on the page of births that's shown on last month's eBay listing. George appears in the Bible as "Edward Wood."
