Frances Woods - New Haven Colony
Posted by: Dennis Wright (ID *****6725) Date: September 23, 2009 at 17:21:20

I am searching information on a Frances Unknown who married William Potter. They were early settlers in the New Haven Colony. I have seen reports her last name was Woods, yet can't find my documentation. I'd appreciate if someone has this information they could provide me.

This is what I want to fill in,

Frances Unknown, born 1609 in England married William Potter, born 1608 in Manchester England, about 1634 in England. They had a son named Joseph who sailed with them on the Abigail in 1635. Joseph was aged 20 weeks upon arrival. This Frances has been called Frances Childs(?), yet Frances Childs was married to the William Potter who lived in colonial Stamford Connecticut. I have seen a reference the Frances I seek was a Woods, yet lost my documentation.

This Frances was an unknowing victim of her husbands shameful behavior. I seek information about her as an important and valued ancestor in her own right. Please let me know if you have documentation so we may have our records correct.

Thanks,

Dennis Wright
