John Milton Wood, son of the late John M. and Sarah Dennis Wood, was born on September 28, 1854, and died at his home in St. Louis, Friday, August 23, 1940, at 11 p.m., after an illness of three months of a heart ailment. He was 85 years 10 months 25 days of age. On December 25, 1882, he was united in marriage to Margaret Elizabeth Hibbits, and they were the parents of six children, a daughter Margaret Elizabeth, having died at the age of three years. The surviving children, who with the widow, mourn his loss are: Luther E. Wood, Tacoma, Wash.; Rev. John L. Wood, Iva (Mrs. J. W.) Mansfield and Miss Ruth Wood, an attorney, St. Louis; and Edna (Mrs. F. E.) Wells, Desloge.
Also left to mourn his passing are six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends. Mr. and Mrs. Wood made their home in Knob Lick for many years, moving to Flat River for a stay of five years and the past three years have resided in St. Louis.
Funeral services were held Monday at 8:30 a.m. at the Provost Funeral Home, St. Louis, after which the body was taken to the Methodist Church in Knob Lick, where a Masonic service was conducted by J. Clyde Akers. Interment was in the Knob Lick Cemetery.
