There were 2 boys under 10 in the 1820 census in Vincent & Mary Archer Wood's home. . Vincent Wood disappears from records after 1820 and is not in the cemeteries of Gibson What happened to Mary & the boys? . Vincent applied for land and his marriage without the "s" added to Wood. He chose lan d in the grouping of the sons of Joseph WOODS of Albemarle Co VA & Blount Co, TN. At the time they were the only Wood/Woods family in Gibson and continued so until 1838. But research has opened the possibility that Vincent was the son of one of two brothers. His wife Mary was the daughter of Robert Archer of SC. Robert Archer lived in Princeton and died in 1818. some of his land was deeded to daughters Catherine, Mary wife of Vincent Wood and I can't find my notes about the other sisters names. 4 daughters if I remember correctly.. Robert was born 1748 and was a Revolutionary War soldier serving in SC.. A daughter Catherine Archer is in the Archer cemetery b15 Oct 1803 died 10 Jan 1872. The other marriages of Gibson do not seem to include the other sisters unless Polly Archer who married John Munford Feb 1819 was a daughter of Robert. . What happened to the Vincent Wood family? They were in the census in the Seminary township on Section 15 I believe. in 1820 Vincent was in the 1819 tax records too..He did not complete his federal land purchase in seminary township. . It would not be surprising if the boys were raised by Archers and even took their surname if Vincent died as it appears he did. Please respond with any help that you can give me.
