Ambros Wood, 507 West California Street, passed away this morning at 7:40 o'clock. Death was due to old age. Mr. Wood's age being 96. Mr. Wood was born December 24th, 1823, in Beverly, Va., Randolph county and lived there until 1848, when he moved to Illinois with his parents. He was married to Miss Ella Smith of Virginia April 21st, 1846. To this union was born three children; John H. Wood of Urbana, IL, Horace S. Wood of Kansas and Oscar Wood of Vinita, Okla. Mrs. Wood died April 12th, 1882. On July 3rd, 1882, Mr. Wood married Miss Jennie Perkins of St. Louis and she died July 28th, 1898. For several years Mr. Wood has made his home with his son; John H. Wood. Funeral services will be held Friday, April 11th, from the house, with Rev. Walter Afthon in charge. Burial will be made in Woodlawn.
