Brad, Thank you for your note. I hope that I have something to help you, but I’m not sure… Yes, after studying Benjamin & Sarah (Dyer) Boyce of Mendon, MA, and each of the children, using births, marriage dates, death dates, and wills… it turns out that Sarah Boyce (b.14 Mar 1745/46) is the only one that could have been a parent to Lovice Wood (b. Abt. 1768). Jonathan's brother, Benjamin Boyce (b. 17 Oct 1749 –d. 03 Mar 1782), married Betsey Leland. They had two children: Ebenezer Boyce (b. 09 Sep 1775-d. 23 Mar 1798) and Betsey Boyce (b. 14 Oct 1777-d. 06 Jun 1861) m. Timothy Lampson/Lamson 29 Mar 1798. I first found Phoebe Boyce mentioned in her fathers will 1787. At that time she was unmarried. She is mentioned again in the will of her brother, Asa, who died unmarried in 1790 & she was still unmarried. Finally, she is mentioned in her brother Jonathan’s will in 1794 has the wife of Preserved Cook. When searching for her marriage record, I found… The Vital Record of Rhode Island, 1636-1850 "COOK Preserved, of Cumberland, son of Hezekiah, and Phebe Bain, of Mendon, Mass., dau. of Benjamin, dec.; m. by Levi Ballou, Justice, April 6, 1794." It’s pretty obvious that the surname "Bain" should have been "Boyce". And it’s interesting that the marriage was preformed by "Levi Ballou". This Levi Ballou was married to Comfort Thomas by Elder Nathaniel Cook, March, 21, 1765. This is the same Nathaniel Cook, father of Jerusha Cook who married Thomas Wood. There are many untold family connections here to be discovered… I just "feel" it! Preserved and Phoebe (Boyce) Cook might be the parents of Asa B. Cook? On its face, it seems entirely possible. If you can share the details of what know about Asa B. Cook, maybe we can put it together. Carrie carriemacnz@msn.com Notify Administrator about this message?
