Ray,my family is listed on the 1850 Sabine Parish, James 27 b.1823 AL. Rebecca (Murry) Walker 24 b.1826 MS. With them are Westly 6,b.1844 LA,William 3.b.1845 LA, Thomas 3 b.1847 LA. and Eliza C.M.1 b.1849 LA
James I assume has died before 1860 and Rebecca has remarried and living in Natchitoches with Richard Green 26,b.1834 LA. She is 33 now. The children are and she list them all as Greens, are Wesly 16,Wm.M. 14,Thomas J 12,Eliza 10,Mary J Green 8 b,1852 LA,Mary Green 6,1854 LA,Andrew J. 2 b.1858 LA.
In 1870 Rebecca is in DeSoto Parish Ward 4 LA. She is 44 and she has with her Mary J.17,Margaret (Mary on the 1860 census)16, Jackson,12,Sarah 9,Amanda 7, and a Elizabeth Green 70 who I think was Richards mother.
Also on the 1870 census DeSoto Parish Ward 4 is Thomas Walker 22,Wesley Walker 26,Thomas Matthew Walker 23,Augustine Walker b.1848 LA, Perhaps the wife of Matthew and Mary Sessions 6,1864 is a cousin to the boys.
1900 DeSoto Parish Ward 5. By this time Westley has been married and his wife(we were told by his son) has run off and left him with 2 children. He is 55 now and has a daughter name Effie 15 b.1882 and a son 13 name Andrew Wesley Walker,b.1886 who was my grandfather.
Also there is Matt Walker 54 married 31 yra., Angline 46,Their children Arthur 17, and Bill 12.
Thomas Walker 52,25 yrs married,Malinda (Scott) Walker 41, Julie Walker 24 and Charles Walker 13. Alot of Walker are buried at the Grove Hill Cemetery between Mansfield LA. and Pleasant Hill.My grandparents had 3 children Jewel Elizabeth Walker (my mother) b.Nov.4,1912,a son R.E. died at age 18 and Mary Pauline who died in 1960. Andrew Wesley and Effie(Smith) Walker my grandparents and their son R.E. are buried at the Allen Cemetery between Mansfield and Naborton.
I have not been able to find a marriage license for Westly and his wife as we are not for sure who she was. Mother always thought she was a Green. Thomas and Malinda Walker is not the Thomas that is the brother to Westley. We were told that Westley's parents were buried in the Old Beulah Cemetery at Marthaville but have not been able to prove it.
If you come up with anything on this line of Walkers would appreciate the help.Delma
