Walker Family Genealogy Forum

I have a blog at http://firelands.wordpress.com that tells the history of the founding of the town of Norwalk, Ohio in 1817 during the settlement of the Firelands or “Sufferers’ Land,” a part of the Western Reserve that was given to “Sufferers” burned out of their homes by the British during the Revolution. The story of one of the early settlers of the Firelands, Harriott Deaver, who moved to the Firelands with her family from New York as a child, is a major part of this history.
Harriott’s grandmother was Eleanor Walker, born in Maryland in 1762. Her daughter, Harriott Shaon, married James Deaver a soldier in the War of 1812 and they settled in the Firelands. On my blog I have posted a genealogy of Eleanor Walker that was written by my great-grandmother and grandmother early in the last century.
I post an episode of the history of the “Sufferers’ Land” on my blog every Monday. I hope that people interested in the history of the Walker family will be entertained and informed by these postings and fill in gaps and correct inaccuracies in my research.
Thank you for your kind attention. I hope you visit my blog and enjoy my story of the Walker family and the pioneers of the “Sufferers’ Land.”
