Benjamin Walker, son Hardridge, son of Capt Hardwick, or Jesse/Delilah?

Group 9 Walker DNA Study: Benjamin Walker in the 1830 census of McNairy Co., TN & Hardridge Walker appeared initially in the 1830/1840 census of McNairy Co., TN. McNairy is in West TN on the border of MS, next to Hardin Co., TN (1/3 of Hardin also borders AL). This is a route that some of our Walker relatives migrated to MS/AL/AR, etc, and to points West, using common water ways.

My problem is that after a close review of census records that I had not recorded each 20+ years ago (very hard work back then), I believe that the Benjamin in McNairy Co., TN could be the son of my ancestor Capt. Hardwick Walker – the problem is that based on order of Hardwick’s estate settlement, my ancestor, Hardige/Hardwick, Jr., born 1782 is the youngest. The other problem would be that children of Capt Hardwick were not born in TN.

The question would be, did Benjamin drop several years from his age, as being b in 1788, making him the youngest child? On the other hand, Hardwick’s 2nd wife Mary Hicks had died just before the 1790 census, and it make sense that an infant would be farmed out by a father about age 65—“farmed” to an older son, relative, or neighbor.

Note: a Benjamin Walker was living alone 16-26 in the 1800 census of Burke Co., NC.

1.       Benjamin Walker b abt. 1788, TN, (Outline Report below) listed as “Benjamin J. Walker” in the 1830 census of McNairy Co., TN. He appears to have m a McCann. Through his son Joseph b 1814, he was identified as Group 9 of the DNA study. A descendant, now deceased, told me that family tradition was that he was related to the early Hardridge Walker listed below as # 2.

Note: that Hardridge reviewed under # 2 would be Benjamin’s son also.

There was an affidavit, signed by Benjamin’s son Joseph b abt. 1814 & Hardridge b abt 1815, on behalf of John McCann & wife, Biddy Belcher.

The only older males in the census records of other males in that county other than Benjamin b abt 1788 was William b 1805.

Benjamin son of Capt. Hardwick could have moved to TN, but that presents other considerations, including such as where did he live in TN. I had believed that Capt. Hardwick’s son Benjamin was the one in the 1800 census of Burke Co., TN, but "lost him" after that.

Note also that Benjamin b 1788 is close in age to Benjamin b 1791, son of Jesse & Delilah, son of Capt. George. ??????????

2.       Hardridge Walker b abt 1815 (indicated b in TN instead of NC), whose son
Joseph’s descendant was proven to be Group 9 Walker DNA study.

Coincidentally, Hardridge son of Capt. Thomas William Walker, RS, was also b 1815, but if I can separate this Hardridge as the son of Benjamin, I think I can account for son of Thomas William as the Hardridge that was in GA with Thomas William’s brother Joseph (and not probably the middle name of one of his sons).
