Ruth & Brian, I guess you know that the captioned subject was about the 1830 census, not 1820. Here is one of my Notes for Capt. George Walker that proves that Elijah was in NC at start of the RW: "...The Morgan Dist embraced Burke, Rutherford, Wilkes and Lincoln Counties, and these served: Elijah, Felix, (Private) GEORGE, Howard, James, JESSE, Joel, John, Reuben, Samuel, Thomas, and Moses Walker. It appears that private George could have been Rev. George believed to be the son of Thomas Walker, 4th...." (Capt George did not join with this group - he went to) Salisbury Dist which was formed before the Morgan District, NC, and these joined with him: "... RW from the Salisbury Dist, NC, Allen, Andrew, Capt. George, Henry, James, Joel, John, Joseph, Michail, Randolph, Robert, Samuel, Thomas, William, Zachariah, and David...." I have to move on, but I just wanted to alert that I had believed the an Elijah was the son of Col John Walker d Rutherford Co., NC. I have in Notes for Reuben that the Col he had 12 children and the 5th was Elijah Walker. ????? Check me?? On the other hand, I gleaned through GenForum last year and came up with names of 7 siblings of Buckner b 1806. The names and some of these siblings were repeated by several postings: Wesley/West; Memory b 1802; John Sr; William b 1809; Micajah; Elizabeth; Rebecca; Buckner 6 June 1806. There are 8 children if we include William Walker that lived next to probably his mother Rebecca 85 in the 1850 census of Gilmer Co., GA (Sarah King of the pension file and son lived nearby). There are 7 unnamed children in the 1830 census of Lumpkin Co., NC for West Walker...well we have to ferret out as we learn their ages to agree with the 1830 census. What the latter means is that Buckner b 1806 is already proven to be Group 9 of the Walker DNA study. ...... Meanwhile we have another West in the 1840 census in MO that Ruth suggested is prob the son of John Granderson Walker, son of Jesse, RS. I believe that he would be the gs of Jesse RS, father wold be his oldest son, William. The marriage info proves that the MO West Walker b bet 1800-1809 prob. GA married 25 July 1836 Randolph Co., MO,Rebecca Vestal, same name as the older Rebecca Vestal b VA who Elijah, father of West b abt. 1775-1778. I believe that the West b 1800-10 died before the 1850 census, but still checking. Now further as to whether William father of Jesse & Capt George, etc., had other sons. Son, Reubin, RS, had an unidentified male under 16 living with him in the 1790 census of Burke Co., NC. That doesn't mean that he had to be related - perhaps worker or child of relative. Probably too young to have been a brother. Isn't genealogy fun! This side trips consume time. W. Ray Walker Notify Administrator about this message?
