In Reply to: George, Thomas and Mary Walker born in Ireland by Virginia Tuttle of 27725

Virginia,
"...from Ireland..." is a myth that just doesn't go away. Mary b in VA m John Dallas, RS, in VA. (Have note of a DAR record.) His g gs was my Dad's attorney, when I was a kid in Upson Co., GA.

As you know George went to Burke County and Thomas to Richmond Co., GA. The three were siblings of Joel Walker, Jr., who also came to GA.

The bit about Mary settling on the Sassafras River, DE is new to me. Don't know how that got married in 1774 early in the RW and worked out going to DE

Mary, Thomas & George were the children of Joel Walker (Sr)(came to Burke Co., GA) who was exec of his mother's will Elizabeth (Elizabeth Tandy, others insist Warren) in 1726 Henrico Co., VA, Wills No. 1 pp 181-182. Elizabeth was the 2nd wife of William Walker, whose first wife was Elizabeth Warren, or Tandy, if you want to follow the crowd. (I descended from a daughter of William & Elizabeth, will in 1726.)

Spouse name for the children that I have are these: Mary m Gen Wm Byne; Esther m ___ Carter; John m Frances Byne, sister of Gen Byne; Elizabeth m John Jones; Geo Jr m his 1st cousin Betsy Walker; Rebecca m Henry Byne. Don't know whom Thomas, David, Enoch, Margaret b 1 20 1775 , & Moses married. So I believe this only leaves Margaret whose spouse is unknown.

However I believe that they would have have married in her home county in Burke Co., GA, but you probably have a reason for mentioning Richmond Co., where Thomas Walker had settled. I believe that John & Frances went to Morgan Co., GA. William ("Rich Billy")went to Putnam and then Harris Co. Don't know about the others leaving Burke Co when they married.

This is about all I know to help you connect.
W. Ray Walker
