I feel sure we are talking about the same John Wofford, born about 1740 in Talbot Co., MD and died in 1809 in Rockingham Co., NC. He was married twice according to my records: First time:
Mary Terry
Children:
1.John Wofford, born about 1770 in Union, 96th Dist., SC, died 1843 in Stewart Co., TN. He was married to Sarah "Sally" Gardner and had 6 children.
2. Daniel Wofford, born Nov. 22, 1778 and married to Temperance McGehee.

John, born about 1749 was also married to Nancy Burroughs and had six children:
1. Jessie
2. William "Billy" Lafayette
3. James
4. Mary
5. Isaac
6. Nancy
