Am wondering if anyone has information on Stephen. I found his wife & children living with my 3rd g-grandfather, Elijah Cook, in Davenport and she is listed as sister to Elijah. 1855 Davenport, Dwelling 264: Stephen Utter, Eunice Utter, Ellen Utter, and Edmond Utter. Have to re-order the film; this information is from an index. (Ellen is probably Ellen Joanna) 1860 Davenport, Delaware Co., NY; Dwelling 1156: Samuel Cook 45y Thena " 40y Jennie " 18y Orline " 14y Sally " 75y <probably Sarah Utter, mother to Samuel who m. John Cook. Electa Olmsted 29y Eunice Utter 30y Joanna Utter 6y Edmund Utter 5y Sarah Utter 3y *all listed a b.NY In 1865 Davenport, District 1 Dwelling 77 pg.11; Lines 5-8: Elijah Cook 53y b.Delaware Co., m.1x, single/D U. Emma Utter 35y b.Delaware Co., m.1x, single/D, mother of 3, sister to Elijah. Edmund Utter 10y b.Delaware Co., nephew to Elijah Sarah Utter 8y b.Delaware Co., niece to Elijah *instead of the "single" column being checked, it appears the letter "D" was put in place; it appears the only location in which someone can specify "divorced." Dwelling 80 is the hh of Jesse Utter 43y b.Delaware Co., NY & family. Dwelling 96 has Jacob H. Cook & family. This above 1865 Jesse Utter was 43y b.Delaware Co. m.1x, wife Nancy, mother of 8 m.1x; Children: James 18y b.Chenango Co., Danny 16y, Josephine 12y, Byron 11y, Eugene 9y, Cora 6y. All others listed as b. in Delaware Co-- Wonder if this is a brother to her ex-husband. Something odd that I did find which might or might not be related, was in the Will Abstracts for Delaware Co.: Samuel Wilcox of Harpersfield Will Dated Dec 3 1867 Probated Oct 7 1872 Wife: Laura Sons: Homer A., and Andrew L. Daus.: Helen E. Wilcox, Emma E. Utter, Laura A. wife of James White Jr., Frances A. wife of Edgar S. Curtis. Exec.: Andrew L. Wilcox Wit.: Francis R. Gilbert & Isaac H. Maynard both of Stamford. Since I am finding U.Emma, Eunice, Emma,.. thinking it's possible that Emma was not actually a sister to Elijah Cook - instead - a sister-in-law,... that perhaps Elijah's wife, Harriet was a Wilcox. But then the question of why Harriet (even if deceased) was not mentioned in the will unless she too interchanged her 1st & 2nd given names (if still alive at that time), and since grandchildren were not in the will, expect there would be no reason to list a deceased daughter (if she passed over). I don't know, maybe they are not the same Emma Utters. Any information/insight would be appreciated. ,... Rebecca stacknow@worldnet.att.net
