Radford Jones Fedric and Emma Melton Turnipseed

Radford Jones Fedric (1819-1891) was born in Person County, North Carolina, and moved to Alabama/Mississippi where he met and married Emma Melton Turnipseed (1825-1884), purportedly while working as on overseer for Emma's father. I believe the marriage was 12 Oct 1844 in Alabama.

Some researchers have stated without providing documentation that the older brother of Radford Jones Fedric was Ransom Fedric (born c. 1815 in Person County, North Carolina). Those same researchers state that the parents of Radford and Ransom was John Fedric (died c. 1821 in Person County, North Carolina) and Lucy Vaughan. There is a reliable Person County, North Carolina, marriage record: John Federick and Lucy Vaughan 6 Feb 1814 (William McKissack bondsman, Alex Winstead witness). The researchers also state that Radford and Ransom had a brother named James M. Fedric and a sister named Ellen Fedric. Note that the surname Fedric was maintained by Radford Jones and his heirs but was changed to Frederick in North Carolina

I am interested in exploring the inter-relationship between the Fedric and Turnipseed families but am particularly interested in answering the following two questions: (1) were Radford Jones Fedric and Ransom Fedric brothers; and (2)were John Fedric and Lucy Vaughan their parents? Secondarlily, I am interested in their purported siblings, James M. Fedric and Ellen Fedric.

Any input would be welcome. I have quite a bit on the early Fedric families of Person County, North Carolina, and gladly would share my findings, including information on a John Fedric, Sr. who may be the grandfather of Radford and Ransom.

Best regards.

Rick

See 1850 US Census for Lowndes County, Mississippi, which shows Radford J. Federick (32, Planter, $21,000 real estate value, born NC), Emma M. Federick (24, born SC), and Daniel (2, born MS).

See 1860 US Census for Chickasaw County, Mississippi, which fshows R. J. Fedrics (40, farmer, 10,000/21,000, NC), Emma (34, wife, MS), Daniel (12, MS), Samuel (10, MS), David (8, MS), Henry (6, MS), John (4, MS), William (3, MS), and Sarah (9 mos., MS).

After the death of Emma Melton Turnipseed, Radford Jones Fedric purportedly married Nancy Margaret Murphree 12 Nov 1885 in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. They apparently had one child: Radford Jones Fedric, born c. 1886.
