Turnipseed Family Genealogy Forum

Robert Pryor, Thank you so much for your info on my grandfather; George Turnipseed. It is abosolutely the 1st infom I have ever got. Orville Allen was my father and Margeret and Pearl were my aunts. I had never heard Allen mentioned before and did not know it was my father,s middle name. Loretta Leming was also born in 1894 and their marriage broke up and she returned to Kentucky. George Turnipseed was rarely mentioned in my household. I think the general thought was that he left my grandmother. I,m not interested in uncovering family skeltons just want to know my family background. I was able to track my mother,s family back to colonial days but this is the ist on my father,s side. Any and all more info you may have would be greatly appreciated. My father was born in Hunt City and I intend to stop there in Aug.I had planned to shotgun it and try the county Courthouse etc but your info will help immensley. My grandmother remarried and changed the 3 kids name to Hill, thus my name Lawrence Hill. I particularly would like to know the origin of the unique name of Turnipseed. Some people told me Scotch Irish and others Cherokee indian. Again thank you and I,m begging for any family history doucuments or otherwise. I live in Las Vegas and my telephone is 702 2631802. Call me collect if you want to or use E-mail. again thank you I now have a name for my great grandfather and am that much further along.
