David Richard Turnipseed was born May 02, 1889 in Washington Co., IA and died April 27, 1966 at Sigourney, Keokuk Co., IA.
On December 08, 1910 in Cedar Rapids, Linn Co., IA he married Mary Rohrer who was born (?) and died April 17, 1963 at Sigourney. I have no information on Mary's ancestry.
David and Mary had 2 children, both born in Washington Co., IA: Helen Violetta Turnipseed born August 07, 1912 and Robert Earl Turnipseed born February 12, 1918.
David Richard Turnipseed is the son of Edward Turnipseed, September 30, 1861 - October 05, 1945 and Eva Work, March 20, 1869 - April 11, 1910. They were married February 16, 1887 and had 7 children: Bessie Turnipseed January 16, 1889 - September 10, 1965; David Richard Turnipseed; Thomas E. Turnipseed October 22, 1891 - March 07, 1914; Edna Glee Turnipseed June 1892 - July 03, 1917; Mary Turnipseed October 06, 1894 - June 26, 1916; Marie Turnipseed May 18, 1898 - September 07, 1979; and Mildred Turnipseed Baer June 06, 1900 - December 12, 1988.
Note for Mildred: Mildred had wanted to be adopted by her uncle, Dick Bear...as her sister (Marie?) had been. When he refused she asked to use his name and again he refused. She went against his wishes but changed the spelling to Baer. Millie never married.
Edward Turnipseed married (2) Mary J. McGinnes (April 13, 1879 - November 25, 1948) on August 16, 1911 and they had a son, Frederick.
Edward was the son of William M. Turnipseed December 26, 1822 - December 06, 1871 and Nancy Ann Carder September 13, 1828 - June 20, 1905. They are both buried in Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Washington Co., IA.
William M. Turnipseed is the son of David Turnipseed and Catherine Core. David and Catherine had 7 children, including my direct ancestor John Turnipseed.
