Trying to solve a mystery of who the parents of William F. Townsell are. William F. first appears in the 1900 Census for Argyl, de Funiak Springs, Walton County, Florida, living in the home of his grandparents, John F & Elmira Tounsell, age 9, along with cousins Columbus W (10)& George Thomas (8), and their mother, Mary J (daughter of John & Elmira.) Then I find his WW1 Draft Registration record: World War I Draft Registration Cards, 1917-1918 Name: William F Townsell City: Not Stated County: Geneva State: Alabama Birthplace: Wallace, Alabama, U. S. A. Birth Date: 22 May 1890 Race: Caucasian (White) Roll: 1509387 DraftBoard: 0 Age: 27 Occupation: Moving Picture Operator By Whom Employed? J. B. Carter Where Employed? Hartford, Alabama Dependents: Wife and child Height/Build: Short/Slender Color of Eyes/Hair: Blue/Light Previous Military Service: 3 yrs, Pvt, National Guard, Florida Signature: View Image Dated: June 5, 1917 Precinct 7, Geneva County, Alabama And this also appears to be him in the death index: Social Security death Index: William TOWNSELL Birth Date: 22 May 1890 Death Date: Jan 1963 Social Security Number: 267-42-7342 State or Territory Where Number Was Issued: Florida Actual Death Residence: Florida I have been unable to find out anything else about him. I have found Confederate Service records for John F. Townsell, showing he is from Cumberland County, North Carolia, and it shows Elmira's maiden name as "Horton". I have found 5 children for the couple: William F, born Jul 1860 (wives: Georgia A and Emma) John R, born March 1864 (wive: Mandy A) Samuel Vinson, born abt 1866 (wife: Lillie May) Mary Jane, born abt 1870 (wd. of unknown Thomas) Martha Oberice, b. 14 Sept 1877 (married and divorced Andrew McCracken) Does anyone connect with this Townsell family?
