Given the time and place, Sarah is probably a couple of generations descended from Daniel Stoy, founder of Stoystown. He was born in the 1730s and died almost 100 years later, I believe. The Somerset County Historical Society has a folder on the Stoy family and Daniel was fairly prominent in the area (I believe he was in the State legislature at one point, for example). I am descended from his wife's sister, Jennie Higgns, via Saucy Jack Miller. Daniel married Sarah Higgins and had something like eight or so children. While nothing has ever been published to correctly indicate his origins, I've researched him enough to believe he was a son of Peter Stoy or Stay who immigrated to Pennsylvania in the 1730s.
