Hi Mona,

My ancestor Mary Jane Webb married Zachariah Spurgeon (aka Spurgin)in 1872. She was his second wife. Nancy Thomas was his first wife. Zachariah's father was James W. Spurgeon and Clarisy Unknown (Breeden?) The Webb family and the Spurgeon family are neighbors in the 1870 District 1, Sevier County, TN census.
I was wondering if you know anything about Mary Jane's father, George W. Webb? Do you have any records listing him in any Civil War activities with James Spurgeon of Sevier County or Thomas Spurgeon of Bradley County, TN?
I know a fellow researcher who is interested in another James Spurgeon, also of Sevier County, who married Matilda Breeden. Their daughter Louiza married William Bradford Renfroe.
