My grandfather's records (Peter Victor Bukovec aka Bukowich) show that he was born in Zaier, Austria, on July 5, 1877. I have found Zaier on an 1893 map of what is today Slovenia (near Ljubjiana). I have found references that Zaier's later name is/was Sora (actually a river and maybe a town??) and also Skofja Loka {Bischoflack, also Laak an der Zaier-Škofja Loka}. Can anyone verify or clarify any of this? And if so, where might I write for a birth certificate or other information on my grandfather who came to the U.S. in January 1903?
