Sorry I'm so slow to repond. My father was your grandfather's oldest brother by 7 years. Both of them died of heart attacks relatively young. My father was 64 and your grandfather was in his mid 50's. I'm a nurse, so be preventatively minded! re Shelly Family (note: name changed around 1941-42 from Polish Schliske. I have Samuel's (your great grandfather) birth certificate copy) I think your father's birth certificate was under Schliske. This was a huge secret for many years. Anyhow, I don't think I ever met you, but my mother (Betty who died in 2000) liked your mom very much and tried to help your dad as he struggled with Alcoholism. Many other people tried, including your aunt Susan Shelly Whalen who therefore doesn't want anything more to do with Georgie...or unfortunately, his family. This may change as time goes on. She thinks he is in a nursing home in south Jersy, having had heart problems. Your dad was a talented artist and it's such a shame that he got so sick. How's your new family doing??
