Hello, Shellys! Just starting out to find my grandfather's roots. In spite of having fourteen children, none of my aunts or uncles seem to know anything about his parents or any of the family's history. My hope is that someone out there will be able to help me jump start my search.
All the information I have at this point is as follows:
William Franklin SHELLY
b. 19 November 1903 (birthplace unknown)
d. March 1975 in Wilmington, Del
SS: 222-10-5952
His wife's name was "Cleo" Romaine FILLMORE
b. 23 April 1906
d. May 1972 in Wilmington, Del
William had one brother, Claire (m. ?), and two sisters, Grace (m. Gordon Sitler) and Margaret (m. Walter Rittenhouse).
I found Romaine Fillmore's tree on World Family Tree v.1 t.5014. Here it lists her being married to a "Shelly". As her brother and sister's names are the same, I assume (for now) this is her. My problem is all information provided in that tree on both is locked (Private).
William and Romaine raised a large family in Wilmington, Del., where all but two of their children remained to raise families. If it is any help,
The family seems to think William's father's name was "Harry". As for his mother, no one is certain but some think her first name was "Kate", and her surname was "Fry(e)".
I've looked through the SS Death Indexes, World Family Trees, and all the other stuff that comes with FTM, but I haven't turned up anything. I am ordering a 1910 Census report, as well as a SS report on him but would like to see if anyone out there can give me any leads while I wait for those things to arrive.
As I am beginning this research from here in Japan and will have to deal with snail mail, any e-mail help, advice, or leads would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance from a beginner!

PS: I had no idea there were so many Shellys out there! For 38 years, I've never met anyone else having my surname except for family members...
