James,
My Shelly Ancestors, Jacob & Judith Shelly &
Children, came to Fountain Co.,
Indiana from Pa., between 1850 & 1860.
By 1860 Jacob was 54, Judith was 50, they had
several grown children by then. I descend from one there sons George born in 1844.
George Married and moved around in Indiana
and Illinois. I don't know what happened
to the other children. William is a family
name, Judith Keener Shellys' Fathers name
was William Keener.
I believe Jacob and Judith belonged to the
United Brethren Church.
Jacob had been a Sawyer in his younger years,
some of his sons did the same work. They may
have moved around for work.
This could be your Shelly family. I don't
have records of any of the children but George. If your William Dial Shelly was from
this family, he would be a Grandson of Jacob and Judith.
