I am sure FA Schaldach of Vernon County WI came to America in 1860 via Baltimore. He was the son of Carl and either Leonora or Eleanora Schnick. The parents seem to have died by 1887. Somehow the family I am working on was connected with Carl R. who married Emma Nitzche and she was born in WI in 1862. Carl was born in 1836 and some sources say Germany, some Prussia which is confusing. The persons I am really trying to locate descendants of are their children: Milton, Henry, Hubert, Walter and the most important to my historical research is Hugo Frederick Schaldach who was born Nov 1887 in Vernon County WI. He died in Seattle in 1964. He was a Newpaper publisher and bought half of Center Island in the San Juan Islands of Washington State. I need to find out about him for a local history I am writing on Decatur and Center Island. I would like to locate living nieces or nephews that knew him and am trying to find precise info on his occupation. He was very wealthy and remodeled a fancy lodge and filled it with antiques. I met him and his wife when I was about 10 and I do have a photo. Anyone know anything about him. He is very important to my History book. Thanks for any leads.
When he registered for the draft he listed Muriel Schaldach as a contact person. His wife at the time of death was I think, Marie Schaldach.
There is under the name Schaldach on Google Vernon County, info on the roots of that family.
