Carl Schaldach's wife and 3 children came over on the USS Donau on 10/10/1873. He was not with them so I'm assuming that he came over earlier but have still not found when he came to the US. He was born in Prussia in 1840. I have heard the name Bertha Schaldach before and will have to dig through my files (they're pretty big). With the name Schaldach, there has to be a connection as it is not a common name.
