My great-great grandmother Elizabeth Rutherford was born in Australia around 1860. Her mother and father died in Japan whilst on a trip (I think for work)She was sent to California from Japan to live with her uncle George Rutherford. Her first son's name is George Rutherford Thorn. The stories in my family talk about the Rutherfords in Australia/New Zealand in the transport/train business.
I am an American but now live in Christchurhc,New Zealand. My cousin whoworks on our family history told me that he believes that Elizabeth's father was Onias Rutherford of New York and that James Rutherford of Cobb & Co is Elizabeth's Uncle.
My question to you is: Do you know anything about James brothers and sisters and what may have happened to Onias and who his wife was? If I get a bit more information about him I might have clues to verify if he was Elizabeth's parent.
