Ancestry of King David Crockett Russell from Tennessee

I am looking for my genealogy past my 5-6th great grandfather, King David Crockett Russell (went by David Russell), served in the Civil War, 1863, 11th reg. Holman's Battalion, Cavalry, Partisan Rangers (gurrilla warfare?) Died 4 months after entering into service, died in Arkansas. Did he die in battle? Looking for his father, mother, siblings, etc. Any help is appreciated!
