Thank you for responding to my inquiry, but unfortunately, the history you have cited was done by a relative of my husband several years ago before updated information was available on the internet (censuses, etc). Obviously, James Russel didn't die in 1884 as his sons were born in 1885 and 1888, both in Mississippi, not Arkansas. I have found Flora and the two boys in Prentiss, MS in 1900. She is a widow, so James M. must have died between 1888 and 1900, presumably in MS. On two censuses, Flora's last name is Russel with one L. I have found her on censuses with her family (Henderson) which state she was born in 1866 in MS. She died 2 Oct 1920 in Hunt, Co. TX. Her first son was Jesse James Russell, my husband's grandfather, and John W. was her second child. It is her husband James M. who is a mystery so far. I have found 3 males by the name of James Russel or Russell living around Prentiss Co. MS in 1870 and 1880, but have been unable to pin down which was Flora's husband and I haven't yet found a marriage certificate to verify the date of 1884. But, I will keep trying.
