In 1875, James married Mrs. Fannie (Forbis) Irvine. Her children: Mrs. J.B. Wellcome, of Butte, MT, and Perrin W. Irvine. Russel children: Donald Alston (died at age 6), Leila R., Elza, Theodosia K., Charlotte Hough, Francis Forbis.
