First, I found the family of Ansel C. Russell on Ancestry.com (the paid subscription site). I took it back several generations (there were many more to follow, but it was easier to look for the family on Roots Web World Connect, so I discovered other researchers who took the family back for many, many generations. Note: By 1283 the russell Family were the principal landowners at Strensham and remained so for some 400 years. There are many brasses and monumensts to the family inside the church. In 1388 Sir John russell was granted a license to crenelate a mmansion house at Strensham, this almost certainly related to strensham Castle, the moated site to the West which probably survived until the English civil warmwhen it is believed to have been destroyed. About this time the russells moved their residence to Strensham court at Over Strensham ( now Upper Strensham) to the south and it is around this that the current settlement is situated.

Ragnvald was the father of Hrolf Ganger, the founder of Normandy. He was also the father of Turf-Einar, the ancestor of the jarls of Orkney.
