Hi Brenda,
Thank you for your reply but don't think it's the right Matilda. I have gathered from bits and pieces of paper that have been handed down that her mothers' name was Eileen Rudd.
I have now found that Matilda was born 20 January 1850 in Staplehurst and after marriage lived in Mitcham, where my Grandmother, Lillian was born. The other daughters were born in Merton.
I guess I just keep trying but thanks anyway.
