My Father tells me that Bertie drowned off Gravesend although I don,t know the circumstances. My Great grandfather Daniel was captain of a sailing barge called called Clara.I have a copy of his death certificate dated 1916 which says he fell off the quay at Bow Tide Lock while on the way back to his boat and drowned.Moses was one of at least ten children of Martha and Gideon. You mentiond in your message that you had a John Rumens born 1780 in Biddenden.I wonder if he might be Gideon's father as he was born in Biddenden .Also I was wondering if Isaac Rumens born 1813 and Henry Rumens born could be Gideon's brothers as they were also born in Biddenden.i have a fuzzy picture of daniel at the wheel of his barge and one of his daughter Ellen Elizabeth(my Grandmother)I hve some certificates if you are interested.
