Surprise, surprise- someone had posted that Augustin Rousseau husband of Eleonore Ouellet died in 1852. I said in my last post that the children: Samuel, Merinda and Israel Rousseau could not therefore belong to Augustin, as they were born after 1854. But I just found Augustin and Eleonore and their children on the 1871 census at Ste. Flavie, Rimouski, Quebec. The census info reads:

Aug. Rousseau 58
Léonore Onellet 52
Philomine Lapage 26
Gracias Rousseau 18
Samuel Rousseau 16
Marilda Rousseau 14
Israil Rousseau 9

Obviously, this particular Augustin Rousseau did not die until after the 1871 census. Perhaps it was his father Augustin who died in 1852?

There were three older children who were not on this census-Elizabeth born 1842, Napoleon born 1844, and Marie born 1845. Were Elizabeth and Marie married? Napolean (or Paul) Rousseau may be an ancestor for my son in law that I am looking for, and if so, he may have already migrated to Vermont by 1871.

Philomene Lapage or Lepage was a daughter of Eleonore's from her first marriage.

Is this family familiar to anyone? Would like to correspond with anyone who may have additional info or who is a desc. in this line.

Thanks from Nora
