Hi Jason & Laura,
The Rhea family has a long history in Tennessee. Rhea county is named after John Rhea who was a major figure in the revolutionary war and went on to be a senator I think.
There is a book called "Notable Southern Families" that has some info about our family in there. You are also welcome to contact me at davenippon@yahoo.com
Many of the Rheas settled in Giles county, Pulaski area, when they came to the US. I would say that Giles County is our forefathers' home in TN more than Rhea County. There is the old family cemetery there as well as a few structures built or owned by Rev. Joseph Rhea and others. My grandfather, William Gardner Rhea Sr. was born there in 1901. He moved to Paris, TN where my father and I were both born. There is a gentleman named Randall Rhea who is also part of our family and had a really nice family tree on his website but it seems to be gone. My cousin, David Rhea, still lives in Pulaski. Well . . . there is too much to go into it all right here, but feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you like.
