Just a reminder to those having trouble finding an ancestor under one name, that the name may have been changed from some other language, either in the Old Country, on the boat, or when the new arrival tried to explain who they were to the mystified immigration or customs official who almost NEVER could understand any language but English.
Someone here has already mentioned that REY is Spanish for KING. In addition to the pilgrimage to Santiago, back in the early Middle Ages, many Jews in Spain were regularly persecuted and often killed by the Spanish Inquisition. To avoid this fate, many elected to change their Cohen/Cohn or Kahn names to REY and they also converted to Roman Catholicism, which the Inquisition suggested as the only way to avoid the fate of "the infidel".
