Hello from Lawrence, Kansas

My ancestor James Ray born ? and birthplace ? was married and had two children Jesse and Robert in N.C. He then
got a land grant in TN and moved into what is now Cheatham Co. and then about 1810 moved into Williamson. I always knew there were two James Ray in Williamson.. So I guess we two are representing those two.. grin. Anyways I have scant information. Jesse and Robert were blacksmiths, and we have Jesse's ledgerbook which teases us with the name of Nollensville. So I figure OUR James lived in that vicinity. There are at least two land purchases there and some mention of him in tax records in 1813. He must have died about 1818. We have a land sale in that year. The widow moved into KY. and the two boys apprenticed to the blacksmith LeMaster in Maury County. Both the sons, Jesse and Robert named firstborn sons William; so I figure that is significant. The legend goes that Jame's wife was had a surname of CASH. Can you add any information to my
elusive James Ray. I have studied so many of them from
TN and N.C. and Amherst Co. VA... and they always seem to be accounted for and mine still is elusive for parents.
Again any help would be appreciated.
