Ace-

You are going to love this. I saw several names that popped out. I am getting ready to post, this week-end, lots of Ray deeds with many county line changes in Edgecombe. Bute, Warren,Franklin, Wake etc.

FROM YOUR POST:
French Baptisms
...29; Guillaume Heurretin, Susanne Kocherthal; Guillaume; Paul Pelletreau & wife Susanne Heurretin 1732 Dec 17; Jean Rey, Marie Magdeleine; Elie; Elie Manbrut, Susanne Andries 1733 Mar 25; VINCENT BODIN, Helene Smith; Vincent; Denys...

“The only early Bodine from that line who went to North Carolina was the Vincent Bodine (b. March 10, 1733 in New York) who married Anne Strong. Vincent was the grandson of Jean Bodin of Medis. In 1758-1759, Vincent moved to Granville County, North Carolina. He later was found living in Bute County which became Franklin County. He probably died in Wake County." (Dave's Bodine Genealogy Web Site Ten Most Wanted)

Abtracts of Granville County Deeds 1746-1765 Deed Book G

211- Apr. 13, 1763 John Nelson to VINCENT BODINE for 10pds., 360 acres on both sides of Flat Creek in his own line and Nelson’s own line. Wts. John and Nathl. Williams.

212, 213 -Feb. 8 1764 – Thomas Wiggin to Joseph Bishop for 20 pds., 241 acres on VINCENT BODINES line. ( Tabitha Wiggins relinquished dower rights) WTS. Drury Bishop, XMAS RAY.

204, 205 Feb 11, 1764 Joseph Bishop to Joseph Linsey for 100 lbs. 135 acres on GREAT NUT BUSH CREEK and 241 acres on VINCENT BODINES line on both sides of Crooked Run.

I am certainly interested in your line of thinking on this. Other names were James Picketts- Picketts went to Anson NC and on. Heards were in Cumberland NC and GA. I will post several deeds on Christmas RAY. Christmas, Francis and DAvid Raywere on Nut Bush Creek.
(from Worth Rays book Albemarle and its Absentee landlords)
Years ago I did research on my Lee's from Nansemond VA and Edgecombe. I followed them everywhere and concluded that Daniel LEE and Francis LEE who came over early -were in NEW YORK and ended up IN NC were the same. FRANCiS was Isle of WRight Daniel died in Edenton 1n 1703.I think tthe family was in shipping so the waterways of the Albemarle sound-and rivers into NC and shippping to NEW york ,etc. was the key to their movement.

More later,

Melissa
