Lois, the john Ray that fought in the AR was born abt ? 1710. most likly ABT 1730
HE WOULD BE THE FATHER OF THE jOHN THAT WAS BORN ABT 1772
On the 1790 tax list for Southampton Co. VA John is listed with his newphew Reuben Ray, son of his brother William.

8 May 1775. Southampton Co., VA., Will Book 3, pgs 135-136. Will of
William Ray. Heirs: wife, unnamed, all of his estate unless she marries
in which case she gets half and the other half to be divided between
sons, Rueben and James and daughter, Salley Tatham. Execrs: wife and
friend, Lewis Bryant, Sr. Wits., James Williamson and Jain Bryant.
Signed Willm Ray (his mark). Presented in Court on 10 Aug 1775 by Anice
Ray and ordered recorded.

This will is before the AR.
