Raymond - Thank You for reminding me - the names of those waterways changed over the years. It has been sometime, since I accessed the North Carolina State Mars Catalog, which has changed it's format,since I was last there. So it has taken me awhile to figure how to work in their files again. NOTE: Since Haywood Co., NC., was formed from Buncombe Co.,NC., in 1808, one needs to look in Buncombe County, for a 1790's North Carolina Land Grant for a John RAY, living on "Panther's Creek" in the last of the 18th Century. John RAY, of the 1850 Haywood Co., NC., Federal Census was b ca 1772, in Virginia, and would have been of age - 23 years old - at the time of this North Carolina Land Grant for a John RHEA or RAY.
